Graphic violence, rape, misogyny, drugs, extreme profanity
These lyrics, from Eminem's 'Kill You,' represent some of the most extreme content in mainstream rap. The song contains pervasive explicit profanity throughout, graphic threats of murder and physical violence against women, explicit references to rape and sexual assault (including incest), drug use (cocaine, Vicodin, acid, marijuana), references to alcohol, deeply disturbing violent imagery (chainsaw murder, bloodstains, hiding bodies), misogynistic language and dehumanization of women, and references to self-harm and suicide. The violence is not incidental but is the central, sustained theme — graphically describing choking, stabbing, shooting, and dismembering. The sexual content is explicitly non-consensual and predatory in nature. There is also a reference to a homophobic slur. While Eminem has publicly framed some of this content as shock-value artistic provocation and fictional persona ('Slim Shady'), the graphic intensity and normalization of violence against women make this wholly inappropriate for anyone under 18.
